Ines have been working with Immigrants and refugees for 20 years in BC. Helping them to settle down and connecting them with meaningful employment where they can use the skills and education they brought to Canada.

Accomplishments:

Program I was working on was given an AWARD by CIC:

  • MAPLE 2.0 has won an IQN award for best initiative in the Workplace Integration category.
  • The IQN stands for International Qualifications Network which is managed by FCRO and CIC
  • I was also was given the Above and Beyond Award by the Surrey Food Bank in 2017

HISTORY, CHALLENGES AND MILESTONE

I came to Canada with very low English level and the frustration of not being able to used my skills and experience when I came here helped to learn the language and enjoy what this country had to offer. Today, By helping other newcomers I am able to give back and be very sensitive to what they go thorough .

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

– Surrey Food Bank- Connect business and schools in the area with the SFB needs.

– Willingdon Church- Help new families to Settle in Canada and connect them with families who has been here longer

VOTE
